I had earlier talked about this problem here http://www.wapopia.com/blog/2007/06/20/outlook-express-corrupted/

This exact message that I was getting was
Address Book failed to load. Outlook Express is incorrectly configured, please re-install.

Anyway I found a solution for this at MS website according to which I followed the setps

1. Click Start, point to Search, and then click For Files or Folders.
2. In the Search for files named box, type: *.wab
3. Set the Look In box to include your local drives and click Find Now.
4. Click the .wab file that you find. On the File menu, click Properties.
5. In the Properties dialog box, under Attributes, clear the Read-only check box.
6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

But the file wab file already had the read-only check box cleared and this exercise didn’t provide any results

As I had no contacts in my address book so I tried by deleting the present *wab file and miraculously after that my outlook started functionally properly, it created another wab file for itself and now all functions are working correctly.

Conclusion : If your outlook is corrupted and you have tried the methods listed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269777 than try by deleting your address book file ( it isn’t working anyway ) , my be your problem will be resolved

My Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC was not automatically detected by vista, it seemed a bit strange as previously I have never faced any issue with the installation of a LAN card in any OS be it Linux or Windows and Ethernet cards are usually plug and play so with this problem I feared that I might never get this card ( which is built-in in my Intel motherboard )to work on vista.

Anyway after a bit of research I found the new drivers for vista at ftp://202.65.194.212/cn/nic/WinVista_6104_NIC_8139-20070620.zip I have downloaded and installed the new driver and now thankfully the lan card is working.

The link to driver that I have provided is from the realltek’s official website.

I changed my resolution from 800*600 to 1280*1024, the 1280*1024 resolution works fine in XP on the same machine but in vista my monitor refused to display it and I was left with a blank screen, so I rebooted to safe mode so that I can set the resolution back, I reset the resolution in safe mode and reboot to normal mode but again a blank screen welcomes me, vista is due to some unknown reasons still bent upon displaying the 1280*1024 resolution .

I rebooted to safe mode many times and changed the resolution but it didn’t work , I went to MS website and found a faq in vista section that told you what to do if you cannot see any display because your monitor is not supporting the resolution , the only solution to this provided there was again : SAFE MODE
Which I have already tried

So what can I do now? Will I have to reinstall vista just because I changed the display settings ?

CTRL + c or CTRL + Insert (Ins) is the short cut for copy

CTRL + v or SHIFT + Insert (Ins) is the shortcut for paste

It is a global shortcut and works in most of the applications and software’s on files/folders and text, you just have to select or highlight the item that you want to copy.

This is a very common problem, you pressed button 2 instead of 3 and deleted an important text message.
Can the deleted text messages or SMS be retrieved? If you are looking for a free and easy way than the answer is NO.

However some software’s are available that can recover deleted data from a SIM card
e.g
Tulp2G ( it is a freeware)
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tulp2g/TULP2G-installer-1.3.0.3.msi?download

Or simcon ($99) http://www.simcon.no/

To use such software’s you will need to buy a sim card reader, this will be the piece of hardware in which you will insert you sim card and than connect it to the PC so that the sms retrieval software can connect to the sim

BUT before buying any sim card reader make sure to check with the vendors of the message recovery software about the compatibility of the reader with their software

I also found one website http://www.spy3k.be/Deleted%20SMS%20Reader.html which are selling both of the things i.e. the sim reader and sms recovery software together, it is very expensive and costs about 180 euros

You must also keep in mind that none of these will guarantee you will the retrieval of data or a particular text message, this MAY or MAY NOT work depending your sim type, how often you get and delete messages, storage capacity of sim etc. Generally speaking you should avoid using your sim for any more calls or sms messages as soon as you know that you have lost an important message and want to recover it .
